For this week’s RuCreate The Look instalment I’m rucreating… absolutely nothing, because episode nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race gave us an out of this world, one of a kind Club Kid Couture runway theme that left me applauding. While I won’t ‘rucreate’ any of the sensational looks, I’ll be reviewing every single one of them in my own little ‘Fashion Photo Ruview’, with less Raja and Raven and more gifs. If you enjoy this post please give it a “like” so I know, and let’s get into the literal art that walked down the runway.
With episode eight of RuPaul’s Drag Race providing us with The Roast of Michelle Visage, it seemed only right to dedicate this week’s RuCreate The Look to the women herself! I have so much love and respect for Michelle. She’s such a realistic mother bear to the queens, giving constructive feedback to help them improve, constantly touring with them and even helping some of them through addictions. She’s absolutely gorgeous, but this season her makeup is literally flawless. So, let’s jump into how I’d rucreate something similar to the beat she was sporting and then get into my episode rucap! For this week’s RuCreate The Look post I was inspired by not a runway look, but a makeup look from the main challenge! The queens were tasked with acting out an episode from 9021H0, and I became obsessed with Valentina’s Monna Dartin look. From the nude lip to the light blue eyeshadow to the overall styling, her look screamed 90’s perfection and I just had to feature it! Keep reading to see what products I’d use to rucreate something similar, and to also read my thoughts about this weeks episode! I’m back with not one but two instalments in my RuCreate The Look series! I missed my last one because I was in between travelling and university got so hectic that I just couldn’t make blogging a priority. So, today I’m combining my thoughts from episode 5 and 6 into one post while celebrating Shea’s incredible neon look from episode 5’s faux fur runway! I hope you enjoy this post and if you do, please give it a “like” so I know and let’s jump into it, we’ve got a lot to cover!
I told myself I’d take a break from blogging this week, as uni is really ramping up, unless the new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race was interesting enough to write about – well, here we are! I freaking loved this episode, no surprise, and just couldn’t help myself once I watched it. Even though this weeks runway was so fast it almost gave me whiplash, I loved so many looks, especially Farrah Moan’s. So, this week’s RuCreate The Look is dedicated to her! Let’s get into it and if you enjoy this post, please give it a “like” so I know!
I’m back with the third instalment of my RuCreate The Look series! If you haven’t read my posts about episode one and two, in this series I take my favourite look from each week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, gather up the makeup items I’d use to ‘rucreate’ it, plus provide some solid commentary on all the drama, fashion and shade of the episode! This week the queens were tasked with a sewing challenge and had to create an original princess with an interesting backstory and sidekick to go with it. I absolutely loved Sasha Velour’s princess backstory of someone caged by self doubt and weakness who overcame darkness by showing love – excuse me while I weep. Even though Sasha gets about 4 seconds of screen time each episode, something I touch on later, every second we get of her is pure art! So, here’s how I’d rucreate her makeup look from this weeks runway! If you enjoy this post, please give it a “like” so I know, and let’s crack on with it!
I’m back back back back, back again (someone please get the reference) with another instalment of my new RuCreate The Look series! Last week I celebrated the premiere of my favourite show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, coming back for a ninth season by launching a new blog series where I gather up the beauty bits I own that I’d use to recreate my favourite look from each week’s runway, plus give a quick recap of the episode! Last week was Feelin’ Peachy, which was inspired by Nina’s peach look, and this week is inspired by none other than my current favourite queen, Valentina! Her Spanish bridal look complete with gold cross earrings and orchids in her hair, which was inspired after her parents’ wedding day, gave me chills. I thought she looked absolutely phenomenal and it instantly became one of my favourite looks to ever walk the Drag Race runway. SO it was only logical to dedicate this weeks rucreation to Valentina! August was the first month all year that didn’t fly by in the blink of an eye. In fact, I felt like it dragged on for far too long – and that’s not the type of drag that I like. I think August felt so long winded because it was filled with so many highs but also a bunch of existential crisis inducing lows. In August I was finally met with the soul crushing question every university students asks themselves at one point (or many) … “is this actually what I want to do?” I also got the flu (sort of) in August and having to miss work and university was actually terrifying because things move so fast. But those concerns were temporarily soothed when I got to see two of my favourite YouTubers live on stage and my drag queen idols returned to the silver screen for a chance at “rudemption”. These are my August Favourites for 2016!
This is by far the most creative I’ve gotten in a while and the most excited I’ve been to publish a post since I started my blog. I’m sure at some point in their lives most beauty junkies have thought up of ideas for their very own eyeshadow palette. What shades they’d put in, the colour family, what order, names, pan size, packaging… the list goes on. I kid you not, I have done all of this in my head – but of course, it was heavily inspired by my favourite drag queens. So you can imagine my absolute excitement when Katina’s version of the “Create Your Own Eyeshadow Palette Tag” came up in my Bloglovin’ feed. I loved reading her post and found it so interesting what shades people think make a great palette. This tag actually originated from Kat from Kitsch Snitch, and her rules were to pick only 12 shades and put them in a palette. My ultimate imaginary fantasy palette took on a life of it’s own and multiplied into an 18 shade extravaganza, so I hope bending the rules slightly was okay! I took it one step further again and photoshopped together my actual dream palette using the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette as a skeleton and inserting my chosen shades into the pans. I included two versions of my palette, the first having all the real names of the shades from their existing palette and the second being my actual “Create Your Own Palette” complete with their new, drag queen inspired shade names. In a perfect world, if I had my own cosmetics line I would 100% be naming my eyeshadows and lipsticks after all my muses. So, without further ado, here’s my Create Your Own Palette Tag! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
For the first time in weeks I’m sitting here and I have nothing to stress about. I successfully finished my first semester of university, a favourite tv show of mine came back, and I still have three weeks of no university. Not stressing and having free time is…unnerving? I keep thinking about all the things I want to achieve while I’m on holidays, like cleaning out and reorganising my wardrobe and reading more books, but I’m also trying to just chill out. Any who, let’s get on with the monthly favourites, because June was a wonderful and refreshing change from a very hectic May! I have a bunch of beauty favourites but also tv shows, movies, clothes and accessories, so I hope you enjoy it!
