Even though it’s a regular Tuesday in Australia, across the world in New York City it’s the first Monday of May, marking the biggest event on the fashion calendar – the Met Gala. Some of the most famous faces from fashion, film, music and art have come together at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute. In celebration of the grand opening of its latest exhibition, this year’s red carpet theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. In previous years, the red carpet has been lacklustre. Patron saint Rihanna usually carries the show and is sometimes one of the only celebrities to properly dress to the themes. But my hoping and praying paid off, because this year we were finally blessed with some gorgeous, heavenly fashion moments. It’s the first Monday in May which means it’s time for the 2017 Met Gala, the annual fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City! The event signifies the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition, which this year is honouring Comme des Garçon designer Rei Kawakubo with an exhibition entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” Contrary to previous Met Gala’s, this years selection of looks seems a little paired down. With a dress code of avant-garde black tie I was expecting to see some more unusual looks, but nevertheless, there were some sure stunners I just had to write about! Here are my top 10 best dressed from the 2017 Met Gala that graced the 150-foot-long red carpet! Keep reading to find out who made the cut and if you enjoy this post please give it a “like” so I know!
Last week was the first Monday of May which meant it was time for the annual Met Gala held in New York City! The Gala is a fundraiser for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, and this years theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology”. To me the Met Gala is all about designs that are artworks, with hours of work sewn into every detail and meaning behind every decision. Here were my best dressed from this years event!
