It’s safe to say I’m well and truly on the highlighting bandwagon – it only took me a solid year or so. I tend to jump on “trends” when they aren’t even trends anymore because I’m that slow and indecisive on what to buy. A few days ago I realised that while I don’t own every highlighter on the market like others, the ones I do own are quite popular and accessible. It was only when a girl I know posted in a Facebook beauty page asking for a comparison did I realise “wait, I have both of those, and I can help them decide which to buy with some swatches”. I thought it would be helpful to do a post reviewing and comparing the highlighters I have, so here are my thoughts on the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette, the Balm’s Mary Lou-Manizer, and the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector!
When the Australian Federal Election was happening a few weeks back, Mecca Maxima jumped on the campaign trail and created their own election, calling for all beauty junkies to cast their votes to decide which products were the best of the best. Well, while the final seats in our nation’s political system are still being counted, in makeup land the votes are in and this quarters Mecca Beauty Loop boxes are filled with samples of the winning products! If you’d like to read more Mecca Beauty Loop Unboxing posts, you can find the rest of the series here. Below is what was in my limited edition box and my thoughts on the products, so I hope you enjoy it!
This time last week I drove an hour to the newly renovated Pacific Fair shopping centre on the Gold Coast in search of the brand new Sephora store. I can’t remember when the news broke that a Sephora was finally, finally, coming to my state, but I do recall screams and frantic group chat messages with my friends filled with hearts and crying emojis. The store met all my expectations and more, so I thought I’d shade with you my makeup haul and what I thought of the place, plus some pictures I took while I was there! So, I hope you enjoy reading about my first ever Sephora experience!
Splendour in the Grass is right around the corner, so I thought now would be the perfect time to share with you a little festival inspired makeup look I came up with! I love makeup, glitter and bright and bold colours, so though I’m not even going to Splendour I’ll take any oppourtunity to stick things to my face and call it a day. I played around with stars and metallic eyeshadows to create this look, so I hope you enjoy this little “tutorial” of sorts or at least get some ideas for your next festival!
For the first time since I started this project back in January I’m finally happy with my makeup collection and how I’ve set up my vanity! I absolutely love watching makeup collection videos on YouTube, some of my favourites being from Zoella and Shaaanxo, and I also find it so interesting to see how people store their makeup. There are so many ways and systems which means everyone’s set up is a little different. I’m excited to share mine and hopefully give you some ideas if you’re thinking of creating a little makeup space for yourself! I say a disclaimer now instead of later, this isn’t me bragging, I just love makeup and have found so much passion and happiness in it, so my vanity represents a new community I’ve found and a lifelong hobby! I’ll get on with it now and I hope you enjoy my vanity setup and makeup collection!
It happened. I finally caved in and bought the Holy Grail product some of my all time favourite beauty gurus rave about all the time. After umming and ahhhing over this product for months, maybe even a year, I finally went into Mecca and purchased the Nars Isolde Eyeshadow Duo. If you’ve been reading my blog for a long time, you would have read about me dreaming of this product in my Makeup Wishlist that I posted all the way back in January (where has the year gone, I mean honestly). I’m so excited to finally own and share my thoughts on it, so I hope you enjoy my little review!
For the first time in weeks I’m sitting here and I have nothing to stress about. I successfully finished my first semester of university, a favourite tv show of mine came back, and I still have three weeks of no university. Not stressing and having free time is…unnerving? I keep thinking about all the things I want to achieve while I’m on holidays, like cleaning out and reorganising my wardrobe and reading more books, but I’m also trying to just chill out. Any who, let’s get on with the monthly favourites, because June was a wonderful and refreshing change from a very hectic May! I have a bunch of beauty favourites but also tv shows, movies, clothes and accessories, so I hope you enjoy it!
