It’s that time of the month again where I gather up all the things I’ve been loving recently and share them with you! March was a weird and wonderful month as I spent all of it trying to navigate the first four weeks of university. I’m really happy that I’m enjoying my degree so far and am trying my hardest to ace all my little assessment pieces that are due every week, but because of this my blogging schedule was thrown a little out of whack! March also brought with it the Easter break (woo hoo!), and a new job opportunity – but it’s too soon to delve into that now! Let’s get on with the favourites!
My absolute favourite thing this month, and probably my favourite purchase for 2016 (I’m calling it now) is my new Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette! I’m obsessed with the packaging, in my opinion I think it’s just so cute and pretty without looking childish. So far my most used shades are Almond Truffle, Cashew Chew, Mocha and Bordeaux in my crease as transition shades, and my most used feature shades are Molassass Chip, Satin Sheets, Sprinkles, and Cotton Candy. I have nothing but good things to say about this! You can read my Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow palette review to know more!
Going hand in hand with the eyeshadow palette, I’ve found a new favourite eyeshadow brush and it’s the Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer brush! It’s so soft but fanned out and domed so it picks up and distributes product really well. On days where I just want to define my eyes slightly I just grab this brush and swipe some Almond Truffle and Mocha from the palette in my crease for a wash of colour and I feel good to go. I’ve also fallen in love with the Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek brush and it’s been a match made in heaven when paired with my Nars blush. Again, it’s so soft and blends product really well! I’ve written a Zoeva brush review as well that you can check out if you’re interested in knowing more.
I discovered a new favourite this month and it’s the Rimmel London Stay Matte pressed powder. I actually bought this sometime last year but never needed to use it until now when I found my Revlon power to look too dark. It’s translucent and I’ve been swirling my brush in the pan to gather out so product is a loose form to press under my eyes, and I’ve been really enjoying it! I think it gives a really nice finish and stays on for most of the day.
Onto skincare, I’ve been using the Lush Rub Rub Rub sea salt shower scrub sparingly this month (it’s rough so you only need to use it weekly!) and I used it last night and was reminded about how good it is! I’ve never used a scrub before, and I’m obsessed with our smooth and soft it makes my skin! It’s perfect for gently exfoliating your body in the shower, but if you’re after something more intense they suggest you can also use it on your body dry out of the shower. I think scrubs are quite therapeutic on nights when you want to rid yourself of the troubles of the day as they give you such deep clean! It’s also blue! Very fun and I’ll be looking into more scrubs in the Lush range once this is finished.
On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve been really enjoying using the QV Face Gentle Cleanser. I use this to take my makeup off and then go in with my QV Exfoliating Polish to smooth my skin out even more. But since I’ve been on the Easter break I haven’t been wearing makeup and have found this product to actually clear up my skin! The Easter chocolates made me paranoid my skin would break out even worse than normal, but I really think this cleanser has helped keep things at bay while moisturising my skin more affectively than a normal lotion.
Onto things I can’t capture in a flatlay, March was all about Rupaul’s Drag Race as Season 8 started! Drag Race is a total favourite of mine, so a new season starting really helped me cope with university. My favourites in the season so far are Thorgy Thor, Bob The Drag Queen, Naomi Smalls and, after watching this weeks episode, am starting to warm up to Acid Betty as I think they showed another side of her, or she just chilled out a bit this week. Next week is “Snatch Game” and I couldn’t be happier.
Along with being obsessed with the show, I’ve also been obsessing over the online website series “Untucked” which goes behind the scenes of each episode. I love seeing them all sit around and be so authentic and genuine, plus the web series shows clips that weren’t shown in the show, so I highly recommend it if you’re a fan.
After I’ve watched both the episode and it’s web counterpart I then go and watch “Fashion Photo Ruview with Raja and Raven“, where they “toot and boot” the looks on the main stage! This series is amazing and I’m obsessed with Raja and Raven, and even better is that they’ve reviewed so many seasons so once you fall in love with them there are heaps and heaps of videos of them to watch and catch up on.
Another Drag Race related web series I have loved is the Logo TV “The Pit Stop” series which is hosted by one of my favourite YouTubers ever, Kingsleyyy, who sits down each week with a past queen and discusses the newest episode. There’s only four episodes so far but he’s already interviewed two of my past favourites, Trixie Mattel and Ginger Minj! So again, I highly recommend that if you’re a fan.
Finally, the last favourite on my list this week is, surprise, another Drag Race related web series. I’ve been really enjoying watching NikkieTutorial’s “Rupaul’s Drag Face” series where she recreates her favourite look from the weeks episode. I love Nikki, I love makeup, and I love Rupaul’s Drag Race, so seeing them all come together is wonderful.
Only watch those web series if you’ve seen the episodes as they all contain spoilers! I think that’s one of the reasons I love the show so much, they’re just so much more out there that you can get lost and involved in each week!
So those were all my favourites from the last month! I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you did, feel free to give it a “like”!
All the love and thank you for reading,
