Context: For my Introduction to Journalism, Media and Communication subject at university I had to write an essay on a media professional of my choice and relate their career back to concepts we learnt in class. I did mine on one of my favourite people in the world, Zoe Sugg, and was really happy with the end result of my assignment! I thought I’d publish it here on my beauty blog as she’s a beauty vlogger (among a million other things), but to see more of my assignments that aren’t beauty related feel free to check out my university blog at jessicarigaqut, where future assignments will be published.
Last week my little blog hit 100 followers! I know to some that’s a small figure to get excited about, but to me it means so much! I just wanted to write to post to thank you all but to also share why I started my blog.
Basically, I started my blog because I love talking, communicating and writing of any kind. Pair that with my intense love for beauty and my knack for taking and editing photos, and I got myself a little space on the web just for me and my musings!
I’ve spent hours of my life watching people on YouTube recommend me products and show me how to apply eyeshadow and talk about what they’ve been loving that month, so one day I decided to join in on the conversation and start publishing my own thoughts.
As the weather has turned into Autumn I’ve been getting really into rich gold, bronze, and even pink smokey eyes when doing my makeup, so I thought I’d go through my collection and show you the palettes I’ve been using to create those looks! This post is a follow up to my “Autumn Makeup Picks” which I posted earlier in the week, so if you can catch up on that too if you missed it!
As the weather gets slightly cooler (emphasis on slightly, it feels like Summer is never ending!) I’ve started changing up my everyday makeup, incorporating rich hues and dark lips into my daily routine. I thought I’d put together a little arrangement of my favourite products at the moment and what I’d recommend if you’re on the hunt for some new makeup for the changing of the season.
During last weeks sales I picked up two more Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencils and thought I’d do a review on my small but growing collection of them! While there are 10 shades in the range, I currently only own three, which I think are perfect for the upcoming cooler weather. Admittedly, I found these lipsticks a tad daunting at first, as I thought they resembled a crayon more than a pencil. However, once I used them I was blown away by how soft they are to apply, how pigmented they are, and how comfortable they wear on the lips! They apply super smoothly and dry down to a semi matte, velvety finish that feels similar to a lip balm, in my opinion.
I’ve recently been using the same tools in the same order when doing my everyday makeup routine, so I thought it’s be interesting to share them with you and explain how I use them!
