Beach Holiday Essentials

Happy New Year everyone! This is my first post of 2016 after taking a week long break at the beach, and I’m so happy to get back into the swing of things! Before I begin I just want to announce that starting from today I’ll be blogging three times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays! To stay up to date with me you can follow me here on WordPress or follow my blog with Bloglovin!

Whether you’re lounging by the pool or walking along the beach I thought I would share with you the holiday essentials I found myself reaching towards this past week.

First things first you’ll need a pair of swimmers, and in the last couple of months I finally updated my blue bikinis to this sleek black one piece from Jets by Jessika Allen. I also recently bought an oversized white button up from Myer’s Miss Shop as I finally became fed up with my last beach throw over since it didn’t actually give me proper sun protection. I think the white shirt trend is super chic but also practical, as it has long sleeves and has a proper collar. High end swimwear shops sell these shirts for $100+, so I recommend shopping around as I found mine on sale for under $30. Along with a floppy hat, your favourite pair of sunnies and a pair of sandals or thongs, your next essential should be sunscreen!

I’ll be honest and say I can’t stand applying sunscreen. From the smell that lingers on you all day, to the thick texture that plagues 50+ products, I just can’t be bothered sometimes, which is not an option if you’re going out in the sun. So when my mum found spray on sunscreen at the shops I thought I’d give it a go – and I love it! I’m currently using the Ego Sun Sense Clear Mist in SPF 50+, and found that I didn’t get sunburnt at all this week. For my face however I use the Ego QV Face Moisturising Day Cream in SPF 30+. I can’t stand the feel of normal sunscreen on my face as I find it to be super oily and heavy, so if you’re the same it might be worth it to look into a sunscreen that’s specially made for the face.

Entertainment wise I personally like to leave my phone at home away from the sand and water and instead take a book with me to read. This week I read Girl Online: On Tour by Zoe Sugg as I wanted something fun and light to flick through that wasn’t a magazine.

I’ll leave this post with some failed instagrams that were captured whilst trying to get the above pool image of me.

Here’s me totally unaware I’m about to fall:

I hope you all have a wonderful time relaxing these holidays with your family and friends and I look forward to us watching this blog grow in 2016!

All the love,
